Reconnecting With Yourself Through Self-Care & Joy: Heartbreak To Healing Days 10-12

Heartbreak can leave you feeling disconnected - from yourself, from joy, and from the things that once made you feel alive. But healing isn’t just about processing emotions; it’s about reclaiming your sense of self, rebuilding confidence, and finding pleasure in life again. In my online coaching and mentorship experience - Heartbreak to Healing; Days 10-12 are all about deep self-care, movement, and joy-filled activities that help shift your focus from pain to empowerment. Here’s how these simple yet powerful practices can support your healing journey.

When you're going through heartbreak, it's easy to neglect self-care. A pamper day—especially an "everything shower"—is a way to reset, refresh, and remind yourself that you are worthy of love and care.

Treat yourself to a full-body self-care ritual: exfoliate, deep-condition your hair, lather yourself in your favourite lotions, and take extra time for skincare. Light candles, play soothing music, and embrace this as a moment to wash away the emotional heaviness and step into a fresh, radiant version of yourself.

This isn’t just about physical renewal - it’s about shifting your mindset and showing yourself the kindness you deserve.

Action Steps:

  • Set aside an hour for yourself without interruptions.

  • Prepare your space with candles, soothing music, and a warm towel.

  • Indulge in an extra-long shower using your favourite products - scrubs, oils, and masks.

  • Afterward, nourish your skin with a rich moisturizer and take time to let the calmness sink in.

Affirmations:

"I am worthy of love and care, and I am giving it to myself."

"Every self-care moment I embrace brings me closer to healing."

"I nurture my body, mind, and spirit with kindness."

Journal Prompts:

  • How does it feel to care for my body today?

  • What are the small acts of self-love I can incorporate into my daily routine?

  • In what ways am I learning to prioritize my own well-being over everything else?

Day 11: A New Exercise Routine & Self-Care Commitment

Heartbreak can weigh heavily on the body, manifesting as fatigue, tension, or restlessness. Moving your body is a powerful way to process emotions, release endorphins, and regain confidence.

On this day, explore a new form of exercise that excites you—whether it’s yoga, dance, strength training, or something totally new. Exercise not only improves your mood but also reminds you of your strength and resilience.

Alongside movement, commit to self-care practices that support your emotional well-being. Whether it’s prioritizing sleep, nourishing your body with healthy foods, or setting boundaries, this day is about making choices that uplift you.

Action Steps:

  • Choose a form of exercise that excites you. Start slow - whether it’s a gentle walk or a beginner’s workout class.

  • Plan to do this exercise 3-4 times a week for the next month.

  • After your workout, treat yourself to a mindful, soothing self-care practice, like a face mask or journaling.

Affirmations:

"My body is strong, and I am grateful for its resilience."

"I honour my body by nourishing it with movement and care."

"Every step I take strengthens my mind and heart."

Journal Prompts:

  • What type of exercise makes me feel most alive and joyful?

  • How does moving my body help me release any stored tension or sadness?

  • What is my relationship with my body, and how can I make it more loving and supportive?

Day 12: Do Hobbies & Activities That Bring You Joy

When you’re heartbroken, it’s easy to lose touch with the things that once made you happy. But joy is one of the most powerful antidotes to sadness.

Dedicate today to doing something purely for you; whether it’s painting, playing an instrument, hiking, writing, or learning a new skill. Engaging in activities that bring you joy reconnects you with your true self, reminding you that life is still full of beauty, excitement, and possibility beyond the heartbreak.

This isn’t about distracting yourself; it’s about rediscovering what makes you feel alive and inspired again.

Action Steps:

  • Make a list of hobbies or activities you used to love but haven’t had time for lately.

  • Choose one or two to dive back into today, and commit to setting aside time for them regularly.

  • Allow yourself to lose track of time in the joy of doing something you love.

Affirmations:

"I deserve to experience joy, and I welcome it back into my life."

"By doing what I love, I nourish my heart and soul."

"Every activity I do that brings me joy helps me heal from the past."

Journal Prompts:

  • What hobbies or activities make me feel the most alive?

  • How can I incorporate more joy into my daily routine?

  • What was the last time I felt truly happy doing something I love?
